Storage Tips
To maximize space
Use Shelving Units
For small or awkward-shaped items, using shelving units can save space while staying organized.
Stack According to Weight
Heavy items on the bottom and smaller boxes on top. This will keep your items from being crushed.
Disassemble Large Items
Items such as tables and beds should be taken apart and screws can be kept in a sandwich bag.
To allow easy access
Make an aisle
At some point you may want to reach a box in the back so keeping an aisle will help you navigate later.
Label Every Box
Labeling and keeping contents of the same type together will help you locate items.
Use Furniture Sliders
Putting furniture sliders underneath heavy items such as couches can make a huge difference.
To avoid damage
Bubble Wrap Breakables
Reusable and transparent in case you need to see what's inside.
Fill Up Boxes
Fill up boxes to prevent internal shifting and item breakage.
Place Mattresses Flat
Otherwise the padding will shift to one side over time.
To avoid pests
Use dryer sheets
You can use dryer sheets in the corners of your unit to cover smells, but we recommend changing them every 30 days. Canvas can be great for protecting furniture and other stored items.
Avoid plastic bags
Not only are plastic bags thin and easily penetrated, but they also lock in moisture which can lead to mold.
Cleaning your vacuum will help keep your storage units free of unwanted guests.
Storing a vacuum?
Make sure the vacuum bag is completely empty. Accidentally storing old food may bring unwanted guests.
Avoid storing food items
Never store food or perishable items in your storage unit. Stick to sealed, non-food belongings to keep your space clean and secure.
